About The Position

The part-time Park Ranger assists the full-time ranger with a variety of projects around Arcadia Lake. This includes helping educate the public, developing plans/programs, and performing practical tasks to maintain the grounds/facilities. This position works roughly 30 hours per week on average, with more hours during peak season and fewer in the off season.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Up to 2 years of related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in law enforcement, natural resources, or environmental conservation
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
  • Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
  • Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug, physical, and audio screenings

Responsibilities

  • Conduct special and routine patrols of areas to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Inspect facilities, note any violations, and take appropriate action if needed
  • Collect and record information on watershed environments
  • Provide information to the public and relevant agencies
  • Respond to emergency calls
  • Investigate accidents and complaints
  • Perform search and rescue missions, rendering first aid as needed
  • Collect fees and maintain financial records
  • Assist with conservation, preservation, and restoration of natural and cultural resources
