About The Position

This examination is being given to fill 1 vacancy in the Parks & Recreation Department and to establish an eligible list that may be used to fill future vacancies. Requirements

  • Principles, practices, and materials used in landscape architecture, park construction, and engineering, including Computer Aided Design software, as applied to the preparation of designs, plans, specifications and cost estimates for landscape, buildings, recreation equipment and site development
  • Characteristics and requirements of various plant life suitable for park and recreation areas in central California
  • The development and operation of water-oriented parks and recreation facilities
  • Principles of land use planning
  • Research principles and methodology
  • Principles and practices of project management
  • Land use regulations
  • Grant application procedures and environmental impact reports
  • Control of funds in capital projects

Responsibilities

  • Organize and coordinate the planning, design and construction activities of park development projects
  • Analyze proposed development projects and develop work schedules
  • Prepare sketches, plans and specifications for parks and recreation areas by both manual methods and using Computer Aided Design software
  • Plan and evaluate proper landscape architectural treatment of park playground and recreational sites
  • Understand and interpret complex land use regulations
  • Express oneself clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
  • Prepare reports and recommendations
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, private consultants, contractors, public officials and the general public
