About The Position

The Parent Support Mentor is a grant-funded position based off campus, covering White County (Beebe and Searcy). Travel is required. This position will provide training activities and be part of a larger team within the county Women Infants & Children (WIC) office. The role involves communicating with the grantor and community partners, assisting with building training capacity, and collecting data for program evaluation. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Other job-related experience and education may be substituted for all or parts of these basic requirements.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of mathematics and statistics.
  • Knowledge of the work-related subject areas.
  • Knowledge in family health and child development.
  • Knowledge of computers and software applications.
  • Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written information and reports.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to research and analyze related work program information.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree plus one (1) year of specialized training in business management, business education, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze data pertinent to work programs and/or agency/institution goals and objectives, and prepare reports explaining findings and recommendations.
  • Assist clients in obtaining pertinent information outlined by the program related to their particular needs and how to fulfill those needs.
  • Teach and demonstrate health behavior skills to clients.
  • Provide informal education and social skills supports for clients based on identified needs and provide formal educational information based on the Baby and Me curriculum.
  • Coordinate communication between community groups, local health unit supervisor, and program supervisor to ensure everyone receives timely updates of program and/or client changes.
  • Assist in developing or revision policies, procedures, and directives based on research findings and submit to the supervisor for approval.
  • Compile program-related information used by the supervisor to formulate budget proposals to determine resources needed and respond to participant correspondences in a timely manner.
  • Review and answer or prepare correspondence relating to agency/institution programs.
  • Interpret agency administrative directives, policies, and procedures to ensure consistent application.
  • Provide information, assistance, and clarification to interested parties concerning agency/institution programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist supervisor by maintaining leave records, appointment calendar, and prioritizing incoming correspondence.
  • Travel to other local health units as needed to provide community outreach services.
  • Maintain timely and accurate data in the database using the new RedCap software.
  • Submit a weekly work log of day-to-day client activities to the Baby and Me Coordinator.
  • Perform related responsibilities as required and assigned.
