SHIELDS’ mission is to develop, deliver and evaluate culturally sensitive, comprehensive service models that empower and advocate for high-risk families in South Los Angeles. We are seeking a dedicated Parent Educator to provide home-based family support services focused on strengthening parent-child relationships and promoting healthy early childhood development for children ages 0–5. Responsibilities include conducting home visits; developing individualized family service plans; providing parenting education, family support, and guidance on health, safety, nutrition, and child development; conducting screenings and assessments; coordinating referrals and community resources; supporting families in crisis situations; and assisting with goal setting and continuity of care. The Parent Educator will maintain accurate client documentation and data reporting, participate in case conferences and team meetings, collaborate with community agencies, and ensure compliance with agency, program, and funding requirements. Strong communication, assessment, advocacy, and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the ability to support families through a strengths-based, family-centered approach.
