Parasitology Technician I (Overnight Shift)
About The Position
The Parasitology Laboratory Aide is responsible for the collection, processing and preparing of fecal samples. The role involves working an overnight shift from 11pm-7:30am, Monday-Saturday, with two scheduled days off each week. Weekend coverage is required, and specific days worked may vary based on business needs. The target pay for this position is $18.80 an hour. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Attention to detail and organized with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficiency in the English language which allows for participation in team meetings, accurate entry of data into company systems and understanding of written directions
- Positive, can-do attitude
Responsibilities
- Collect fecal specimens from login, scan into loads, and prepare for set up.
- Meet all minimum department requirements for para loads and Fcombo set-up rates.
- Accurately build loads and label processing tubes.
- Split specimens for Giardia ELISA when required.
- Find missing specimens. Print and reconcile queue list.
- Maintain organization of storage refrigerator.
- Maintain all equipment including hoods, centrifuges, etc.
- Awareness of quality control and calibration.
- Crosstrain and develop knowledge of multiple specialties within department/lab.
- Follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures.
- Maintain clean and organized work area. Restock supplies as needed.
- Participate in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation.
- Consult with senior peers on non-complex Parasitology tasks to learn through experience.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
