About The Position

The Parasitology Laboratory Aide is responsible for the collection, processing and preparing of fecal samples. This role operates on an overnight shift from 11pm-7:30am, Monday through Saturday, with two scheduled days off each week. Weekend coverage is required, and the specific days worked may vary based on business needs. The target pay for this position is $17.00 an hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Attention to detail and organized with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Communication skills, both verbal and written
Proficiency in the English language which allows for participation in team meetings, accurate entry of data into company systems and understanding of written directions
Positive, can-do attitude

Responsibilities

Collect fecal specimens from login, scan into loads, and prepare for set up.
Meet all minimum department requirements for para loads and Fcombo set-up rates.
Accurately building loads and label processing tubes.
Split specimens for Giardia ELISA when required.
Find missing specimens. Print and reconcile queue list.
Maintain organization of storage refrigerator.
Maintain all equipment including hoods, centrifuges, etc.
Awareness of quality control and calibration.
Crosstrain and develop knowledge of multiple specialties within department/lab.
Follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures. Maintains clean and organized work area. Restocks supplies as needed.
Participates in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation.
Consult with senior peers on non-complex Parasitology tasks to learn through experience.
Performs other duties as assigned.
