About The Position

The Parasitology Laboratory Aide is responsible for the collection, processing and preparing of fecal samples. This role involves meeting department requirements for sample processing, accurately labeling and splitting specimens, and managing laboratory equipment. The position also requires maintaining a clean work area, restocking supplies, and participating in lab efficiency improvements. The aide will consult with senior peers for guidance and perform other assigned duties. Antech Diagnostics emphasizes ethical conduct, integrity, and accountability among its associates.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Attention to detail and organized with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Communication skills, both verbal and written
Proficiency in the English language which allows for participation in team meetings, accurate entry of data into company systems and understanding of written directions
Positive, can-do attitude
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours.
Constantly operates lab equipment accurately and efficiently.
Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch.
Required to lift, move, and carry up to 20 lbs.
The ability to observe details at close range.
Potential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards.

Responsibilities

Collect fecal specimens from login, scan into loads, and prepare for set up.
Meet all minimum department requirements for para loads and Fcombo set-up rates.
Accurately build loads and label processing tubes.
Split specimens for Giardia ELISA when required.
Find missing specimens.
Print and reconcile queue list.
Maintain organization of storage refrigerator.
Maintain all equipment including hoods, centrifuges, etc.
Ensure awareness of quality control and calibration.
Crosstrain and develop knowledge of multiple specialties within department/lab.
Follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures.
Maintain clean and organized work area.
Restock supplies as needed.
Participate in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation.
Consult with senior peers on non-complex Parasitology tasks to learn through experience.
Perform other duties as assigned.
