About The Position

The Parasitology Laboratory Aide is responsible for the collection, processing, and preparation of fecal samples. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of diagnostic testing in the parasitology lab. The position operates on an overnight shift, Monday through Friday, with alternating Saturdays. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Attention to detail and organized with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficiency in the English language which allows for participation in team meetings, accurate entry of data into company systems and understanding of written directions.
• Positive, can-do attitude.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of laboratory equipment operation.
• Familiarity with quality control and calibration procedures.
• Experience in a diagnostic laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Collect fecal specimens from login, scan into loads, and prepare for set up.
• Meet all minimum department requirements for para loads and Fcombo set-up rates.
• Accurately build loads and label processing tubes.
• Split specimens for Giardia ELISA when required.
• Find missing specimens.
• Print and reconcile queue list.
• Maintain organization of storage refrigerator.
• Maintain all equipment including hoods, centrifuges, etc.
• Ensure awareness of quality control and calibration.
• Crosstrain and develop knowledge of multiple specialties within the department/lab.
• Follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Restock supplies as needed.
• Participate in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation.
• Consult with senior peers on non-complex Parasitology tasks to learn through experience.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
