About The Position

The Paraprofessional supports classroom instruction and student activities at West Broward Academy. The role assists with lesson and classroom activity planning, conducts learning activities, supports students’ social interaction, and helps teachers maintain student records and an orderly learning environment. The paraprofessional also assists with student supervision, including during lunch, and performs other duties assigned by the Director/Principal.

Requirements

• High school diploma and/or GED with a passing Para Pro Test.
• Associate degree and/or 60 credit hours.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience preferred.
• Experience teaching STEM-related curriculum preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
• Conduct learning activities with students.
• Guide students in working and playing harmoniously with other students.
• Alert the teacher to special needs of individual students.
• Provide escort and assistance to students as needed.
• Help maintain individual records for students.
• Assist the teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.
• Assist with the supervision of students.
• Collect and display suitable materials for educational displays.
• Supervise students in the cafeteria during lunch times.
• Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Director/Principal.
