Requirements

  • Have a minimum of 48 semester hours from an accredited institution
  • ABS training
  • IEP knowledge
  • Hold high expectations for each student
  • Exhibit positive rapport with students
  • A desire to have fun every day

Responsibilities

  • Provide small group or 1:1 instructional assistance in the form of remediation and repeated practice.
  • Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
  • Implement and track progress of behavior intervention plans (BIP) with fidelity.
  • Conduct attendance, maintain daily student progress records, and program tracking.
  • Transition students to and from all related service sessions (speech/language, occupational therapy, physical therapy, group/individual counseling, academic small groups).
  • Assist students with physical or mental disabilities with activities of daily living for the purpose of maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activities.
  • Work with teachers to implement an integrated curriculum and student-centered environment.
  • Participate in the development and execution of individual, classroom-wide, and/or school-wide culture supports for students in accordance with school values.
  • Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs.
