About The Position

Alpha Public Schools is a network of four public charter schools committed to providing access to an outstanding education. We are seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional for the Center for Learning and Inclusive Pathways (CLIP) within an inclusive school environment. The successful candidate will believe that all students are capable of success, uphold high expectations, and be committed to amplifying and celebrating the diverse experiences and cultures of our scholars and their families. This role involves supporting socio-emotional needs, literacy development, using culturally responsive instructional strategies, and accommodating individual learning differences.

Requirements

  • AA Degree required (BA preferred) OR completion of two years of college, not a degree but 72 quarter hours or 48 semester hours of college credit OR a passing score on the Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Test
  • Experience working with students with high needs
  • High behavioral expectations and academic expectations for all students
  • Excellent knowledge of child development and educational practices
  • Willingness to be flexible with your schedule
  • A commitment to working with students in traditionally underserved communities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver lessons to individuals and small groups of scholars (with special needs and without) that target remedial skill needs, IEP goals, and general education content
  • Provide in the moment behavior support and coaching, and respond to crisis behavior as necessary
  • Analyze data and conduct assessments to track student progress on IEP goals
  • Assist Education specialist(s) in the completion of quarterly progress reports
  • Collaborate with special education teachers, Managing Director of Special Education, general education teachers, school leadership team, and families regarding student needs and progress
