About The Position
Assists with the day-to-day operation of the classroom in an efficient manner that supports the mission of John Paul II Center for Special Learning. Assists classroom teacher with certain instructional and routine tasks including individual and small group tutoring, supervising students independently and helping to prepare materials for the classroom. Performs such routine tasks as feeding, lifting, personal care on a daily basis if needed. Follows school policies in maintaining order and safety in the classroom, cafeteria, playground and on school premises. At any time during employment you may be reassigned to another classroom in order to meet the needs of the center and students. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent certificate.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Genuine fondness for children.
- Sensitivity to students with disabilities.
- Ability to safely stand, physically lift, and transport a student weighing 30 pounds.
- Ability to lift and transport a student weighing more than 30 pounds with another staff person.
