About The Position

The Paraprofessional assists teachers, specialists, and staff in instructing, supervising, and training general education and special education students with a variety of needs. In some cases, support is provided pursuant to student-specific plans, behavior support plans, or other individualized plans. The role provides instructional services within established policies and procedures across educational settings, which may include classrooms, learning centers, vocational programs, and other instructional facilities. Other duties, including clerical tasks, may be assigned. The position is listed at 0.75 FTE.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Knowledge of behavior management strategies.
• Knowledge of the district curriculum.
• Knowledge of appropriate evasion and restraint strategies, such as Managing Student Behavior, ProAct, or similar.
• Knowledge of standard office machines, including fax machines, network printers, and scanners, and computers.
• Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR procedures and techniques.
• Positive behavior modification experience, or willingness to be trained.
• Curricular intervention experience, or willingness to be trained in curricular interventions such as Response to Intervention techniques.
• Any combination of experience and education that provides the required knowledge and abilities may qualify.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual Spanish ability is desirable.
• A minimum of two years working directly with students is preferred, especially students with IEPs and/or behavior support plans.
• Some college coursework related to education is desirable.

Responsibilities
