About The Position
The Paraprofessional assists students in the Reaching Higher Afterschool Program at Attwood New Tech Magnet School in Lansing, Michigan. The program serves students in grades 4–7, runs Monday through Thursday during the school year from September through May, and this part-time position is limited to a maximum of 10 hours per week.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated knowledge of youth.
- At least 2 years of experience working with youth in a structured program setting.
- Good character, health, emotional stability, maturity, and strength to carry out assigned duties.
Responsibilities
- Engage and assist students during academic enrichment activities.
- Assist students with homework and provide support for individualized tutoring.
- Manage students in a safe and productive manner.
- Serve as a mentor and role model through professional conduct.
- Cultivate positive relationships with students, families, and fellow staff.
- Attend mandatory meetings and complete required paperwork.
- Participate in 18 hours of professional development per year that meets licensing requirements.
- Perform duties in compliance with Child Day Care Licensing rules and regulations.
- Help ensure the program meets industry quality standards and grant requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
