About The Position

BrightBee is seeking paraprofessionals to work within the Novato Unified School District, supporting students with mild, moderate, and/or severe disabilities in special education settings. The role involves providing individual and small group support in various school environments, including the classroom, recess, and lunch areas. Contractors will assist in implementing behavior intervention plans for students with moderate to severe learning, physical, and emotional disabilities.

Requirements

  • Related work experience with special needs children or adults (moderate/severe) required.
  • At least 48 college credits or an Associate's and/or Bachelor's degree.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to commute to public and charter schools within the applicant region, required.
  • Some prior experience working with K-12 students in educational settings, required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with teachers, students, and school staff.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to varying classroom environments, student needs, and instructional approaches.
  • Dependability and punctuality are vital for fulfilling on-demand job opportunities efficiently.
  • Able to work traditional school hours (7am - 3pm).
  • Must pass a background check, livescan, and may need to obtain other necessary testing/clearances.
  • Must provide authorization to contact former employers.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Execute individualized education programs as assigned by the teacher.
  • Utilize behavior management strategies, with an emphasis on positive reinforcement.
  • Assist in monitoring students during non-instructional times, including breaks, lunch, recess, and enrichments (PE, art, before/after school).
  • Cooperate with necessary documentation processes, school support specialists, and other processes regarding student progress.
