About The Position

The Paraprofessional provides instructional assistance to students who need academic intervention, working one-on-one or in group workshops as directed by the classroom teacher and designated instructional leader. The role supports students’ academic, moral, and social development and helps implement a results-driven curriculum intended to promote growth between fall and spring testing. The schedule is 30 hours per week at South Canton Scholars Charter Academy in Canton, Michigan, which serves students in Young 5 through grade 8.

Requirements

• Meet state requirements for being a Title 1 paraprofessional.
• Knowledge of and ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and/or mathematics.
• Understanding of and capability to navigate technical systems.

• Previous experience working in a school or with school-age children.

Responsibilities

• Assess student abilities and provide instructional assistance to students in need of academic intervention through one-on-one or group workshops, as directed by the classroom teacher and designated instructional leader.

• Attend professional development and articulation meetings with classroom teachers and parents as required.
