About The Position

This position is for a Paraprofessional working in the STRIVE AM program. The hours are from 8:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M., for 191 days a year, which includes one day of CPI training. The role requires individuals who are at least 18 years old for Pre-K through 5th Grade or 20 years old for 6th Grade through 12th Grade. Candidates must be well-mannered, well-groomed, punctual, dependable, and enjoy working with children. Specific licensure and testing requirements must be met.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age for Pre-K through 5th Grade or 20 years of age or over for 6th Grade through 12th Grade
• Must have an Educator Licensure with Stipulation or valid Illinois Teaching Licensure or 90-day sub licensure
• Must have high school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to perform all job-related functions
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or written directions
• Ability to communicate and maintain good working relationships with other employees and general staff of the assigned school
• Must pass a physical and TB test
• Must take CPI course and refresher courses
• Must pass pre-placement agility/fit for duty exam with MOHA

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with the students in the classroom
• Assist teacher with supervision of students in the lunchroom, on the playground, and when proceeding to and from the buses
• Use copying machine with teacher supervision to make materials for the classroom
• Assist with feeding/toileting of students requiring total care
• Assist with lifting and positioning of non-ambulatory students
• Assist student with self help skills
• Perform other duties as assigned
