About The Position

The Paramedic is a licensed Paramedic who functions under the direct supervision of the Staff Nurse, Department Director, Clinical Manager of Emergency Department, and physician(s). The Paramedic assists with patient care by performing clinical and supportive functions for which they have documented competency. The Paramedic adheres to policies, procedures, and established standards of practice. The position is full-time and works nights. Qualified candidates may receive a sign-on bonus of up to $3,000, paid over 24 months.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum education required for licensure as a Paramedic in the State of Florida.
• State of Florida Paramedic License.
• BLS and ACLS certification through an approved American Heart Association program.
• Complete CPI within three months of hire.
• Complete blood draw competency within three months of hire.
• Complete EKG competency within three months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• One year of Emergency Services experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with transporting patients, including transporting non-critical patients on cardiac monitors.
• Initiate and repeat vital signs per policy and relay results to the RN and/or physician in a timely manner.
• Assist with confused and/or violent patients.
• Assist with orthopedic procedures, including splinting and immobilization procedures.
• Obtain and set up procedural trays and items as needed.
• Assist with manual CPR.
• Maintain patient privacy.
• Apply and maintain cervical and/or spinal immobilization as indicated or directed.
• Assist with manual bag/mask ventilations.
• Utilize principles of infection control.
