The Paramedic is responsible for delivering high-quality care and transportation to ill and injured persons, demonstrating clinical competency and compassion. The Paramedic must be self-disciplined, able to develop patient rapport, interview hostile patients, maintain safe distance, and communicate effectively with diverse multicultural groups and age ranges. The position demands the ability to function independently in a constantly changing, non-structured environment, making patient care decisions based on predetermined protocols and accurately administering time-critical medications. The Paramedic will initiate, operate, and maintain advanced lifesaving equipment, including intubation, ventilation, ventilator use, vasopressin drips, blood products, arterial lines, and chest tubes. The work environment involves exposure to environmental changes (e.g., outdoor weather, warehouses, garages), extreme noises, odors, heights, and dust. There is also potential exposure or risk to physical health and safety, including hazardous materials, assault, heavy equipment, and communicable diseases. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required, along with medical evaluations and clearances.
