About The Position

Wellstar is seeking Full-Time Paramedics to join their team at Wellstar Spalding EMS. This role involves providing emergency care at the scene of accidents or other emergencies, including preparation, response, care delivery, transportation, documentation, and post-response duties. The position also includes attending to patients during non-emergency ambulance transports, ensuring their safety. Key responsibilities include scene and patient assessment, initiating emergency life-saving treatments, administering CPR, oxygen, and resuscitation, intubation when necessary, inserting IVs, and administering medication per physician order or ACLS protocol. Paramedics may also participate in life safety and community awareness programs. The role requires strong communication, teamwork, adherence to safety policies, and operating within the scope of practice with medical direction. Financial stewardship includes maintaining accurate supply levels, proper equipment use, and vehicle maintenance. Problem-solving under pressure is essential for patient care.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provides emergency care at the scene of an accident or other emergency.
  • Prepares for response, responds to emergencies, delivers care, transports patients, documents services, and performs post-response duties.
  • Attends to patients during non-emergency ambulance transports, ensuring their safety.
  • Performs initial assessment of the scene and patient, including history and physical exam.
  • Recognizes and evaluates patients requiring immediate attention and initiates emergency life-saving treatment.
  • Delivers or supervises emergency patient care, including CPR, oxygen administration, and resuscitation.
  • Intubates when necessary.
  • Inserts IVs and administers medication according to physician order or ACLS protocol.
  • May participate in life safety programs, community awareness programs, and other assigned programs.
  • Communicates verbally in crisis situations with team members, patients, and family members.
  • Works with EMT or Paramedic partner to form solutions to unique problems, respecting input and working towards a common goal.
  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures and acts in a safe manner at all times.
  • Acts within the appropriate guidelines and scope of practice for the Paramedic role, seeking on-line medical direction when necessary.
  • Maintains accurate supply levels and proper use of equipment.
  • Maintains vehicles in good working order and uses them with due regard.
  • Performs daily preventative maintenance checks on vehicles.
  • Analyzes problems under pressure to identify underlying issues and determine a course of action for patient care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
