About The Position
The Paramedic provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a registered nurse or physician. The role assists patients with activities of daily living, provides personal care and emotional support, and performs more complex clinical skills under nursing or physician direction. The position is part time and offers a flexible schedule and full benefits. The North Valleys freestanding emergency department is open 24/7 and treats patients of all ages. Its services include emergency care, advanced imaging, and lab draws. Patients needing a higher level of care may be transported to a regional hospital through partnerships with local EMS providers.
Requirements
- Current Nevada EMT-P certification.
- Current BLS certification.
- Advanced cardiac rhythm competency within 6 months of hire.
- Complete the HealthStream course AACN: Essentials of ECG & Dysrhythmia Monitoring within 6 months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Complete bedside shift reports in the room at the beginning and end of each shift for patients remaining in the ED who received direct care from the paramedic, using IMAP and SBAR.
- Ensure patients are provided with the names and contact numbers of care team members on the communication board each shift.
- Provide supportive care to Emergency Department patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
- Perform approved procedures according to policy.
- Incorporate patients’ and families’ psychosocial, spiritual, emotional, population-specific, and diversity needs into care.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including crutch walking, dressing changes, wound cleaning and dressing, and assisting a physician or nurse with splint or cast application.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide personal care and emotional support.
