About The Position

This position provides prehospital emergency care and transport for injured and/or ill patients for Albuquerque Ambulance Service, a division of Presbyterian Healthcare Services. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current NM Drivers License (Out of State candidates must obtain within 30 days of hire)
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Maintain driving record insurable by Presbyterian policy
  • Must pass physical abilities assessment.
  • State of New Mexico Paramedic certification in good standing.
  • ACLS certification
  • BLS certification
  • Must obtain medical examiner certification/DOT certification as part of on-boarding and maintain.

  • EMT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • This position provides prehospital emergency care and transportation for injured and ill patients, delivering care in accordance with standing guidelines and on‑line medical direction.
  • The paramedic participates in patient care based on the setting and acuity of needs, administers medications, and performs ALS‑level interventions as permitted by the New Mexico State scope of practice, local guidelines, medical direction, and organizational policies.
  • The role requires maintaining current certification in CPR and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Responsibilities include documenting patient care using the current computerized documentation system and maintaining accurate, informative medical records for all patient encounters.
  • The paramedic operates emergency vehicles safely and in accordance with EVOC and defensive driving standards, adheres to Presbyterian expectations for professionalism and compassionate care, and maintains positive communication and collaboration with Emergency Department physicians and staff.
  • The position also requires attending departmental meetings and education to stay current with developments in the field, along with performing other duties as assigned.
