About The Position

This role is for a Paramedic in the Pediatric Emergency Department at The Studer Family Children's Hospital At Ascension Sacred Heart. The position is PRN with a rotating schedule. The primary responsibility is to identify, intervene, and stabilize ill or injured patients under the direction of a physician and/or Registered Nurse. This includes initiating and implementing interventions based on transport team protocols, monitoring and communicating patient condition and treatment, providing population-specific education to patients and families, and ensuring the safety of the transport team, patients, and the public through equipment inspection and maintenance.

Requirements

Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Paramedic specializing in Flight credentialed from the International Board of Specialty Certification obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date OR Paramedic credentialed from the Florida Emergency Medical Services obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsibilities

Identify, intervene, and stabilize the ill or injured patient under the direction and in collaboration with a physician and/or Registered Nurse.
Initiate and implement interventions based on transport team protocols.
Monitor, record and communicate patient condition and treatment, as appropriate.
Provide population specific education to the patient and family about the patient's illness and therapeutic interventions.
Inspect, maintain and care for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public.
