About The Position

Medstar is seeking two experienced EMT and Paramedic Instructors to deliver initial education in Southern Michigan: one serving North Operations (Genesee and Bay Counties) and one serving Central Operations (Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne Counties). Candidates should identify the area for which they are applying. The instructors will teach within Medstar’s high-volume EMS system and help prepare new EMS professionals to serve the communities it covers.

The role combines classroom and practical instruction with student evaluation, continuing education development, and required course documentation. Instructors serve as instructor of record for assigned courses and represent Medstar with students, partner institutions, and clinical sites. Travel between education sites in the assigned operations area is required as scheduled.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid State of Michigan Paramedic license.
• Valid State of Michigan Instructor-Coordinator license at the Paramedic level.
• Current AHA BLS Instructor certification.
• Current ACLS, PHTLS, and PALS certifications.
• Valid Michigan driver's license.
• Ability to travel between Medstar education sites within the assigned operations area as scheduled.

Nice To Haves

• Higher education is preferred.
• At least two years of experience teaching initial EMS courses is preferred, or at least three completed initial education courses as instructor of record with verifiable results.

Responsibilities

• Deliver initial EMT and Paramedic education in accordance with State of Michigan and Medstar standards.
• Serve as instructor of record for assigned courses within the assigned operations area.
• Evaluate student performance in didactic and practical settings and provide structured feedback.
• Participate in the design, review, and delivery of internal continuing education and training programs.
• Maintain course documentation and reporting required by the State of Michigan and accrediting bodies.
• Represent Medstar professionally with students, partner institutions, and clinical sites.
