About The Position

Medstar is seeking two experienced EMT and Paramedic Instructors to support its growing education program. Initial EMT and Paramedic courses are offered at multiple sites throughout Southern Michigan. One instructor will lead EMT programs in North Operations (Genesee and Bay Counties), and the other will lead programs in Central Operations (Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne Counties). Candidates should indicate which area they are applying for.

Instructors deliver education in a high-volume, clinically advanced EMS system and help prepare future EMS professionals to serve the communities Medstar covers. They work alongside the education and clinical leadership teams and contribute to training a clinical workforce capable of providing high-quality patient care and service.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid State of Michigan Paramedic license.
• Valid State of Michigan Instructor-Coordinator license at the Paramedic level.
• Current AHA BLS Instructor certification.
• Current ACLS, PHTLS, and PALS certifications.
• Valid Michigan driver's license.
• Ability to travel between Medstar education sites within the assigned operations area as scheduled.

Nice To Haves

• Higher education preferred.
• At least two years of experience teaching initial EMS courses preferred, or at least three completed initial education courses as instructor of record with verifiable results preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver initial EMT and Paramedic education in accordance with State of Michigan and Medstar standards.
• Serve as instructor of record for assigned courses within the assigned operations area.
• Evaluate student performance in didactic and practical settings and provide structured feedback.
• Participate in designing, reviewing, and delivering internal continuing education and training programs.
• Maintain course documentation and reporting required by the State of Michigan and accrediting bodies.
• Represent Medstar professionally with students, partner institutions, and clinical sites.
