About The Position

The Gordon Center for Research in Medical Education has an exciting opportunity for a temporary, part time Paramedic Instructor 2 to work in Miami, FL. The Paramedic Instructor 2 - Per Diem furthers the mission of developing and disseminating leading edge educational programs utilizing advanced technology and simulation systems. Moreover, the Paramedic Instructor 2 - Per Diem ensures that training follows applicable standards and regulations. The incumbent monitors teaching and learning effectiveness of assigned courses and uses expertise to promote student learning and active participation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required
  • Valid State of Florida Paramedic license required
  • Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements
  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provides didactic instruction and psychomotor skills training to a diverse population of learners.
  • Administers written tests and skills performance evaluations of PEH course learners.
  • Provides remedial tutoring of learners with identified deficiencies in performance of course requirements.
  • Contributes to the development of objective criteria for skills performance evaluation.
  • Participates in testing and analysis of educational tools utilized in PEH courses.
  • Maintains current knowledge of the latest evidence for the subject matters being taught.
  • Assists with the compilation of educational research data.
  • Evaluates and contributes to the revision, editing, and updating of PEH courses, ensuring all materials meet current guidelines and standards established by appropriate agencies.
  • Assists with the training and preparation of standardized patients (actors) incorporated into course instruction.
  • Serves as course coordinator for on-site courses by managing time, overseeing instructors, and ensuring course goals and objectives are met.
  • Assists with equipment and supply inventory maintenance.
  • Participates in efforts to recruit qualified new adjunct and PEH instructors.
  • Participates in presentations to a variety of community, political, and medical audiences.
  • Promotes positive communications about the center and its programs and contributes to the center’s responsiveness to constituent agency educational needs.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
