About The Position

The Critical Care Ground Transport Paramedic (CCGTP) is responsible for the assessment, triage, treatment, and evaluation of interfacility patients during ground transport. The CCGTP must function autonomously, utilizing medical protocols and advanced skills under the direction of the medical director. This role involves providing comprehensive care to patients, documenting the process in the patient record, and serving as a resource for other team members by sharing skills and clinical knowledge. Effective communication and the ability to work positively in a high-stress environment with patients, peers, families, and other personnel are essential. The CCGTP is also responsible for community outreach and education, carrying out the mission and goals of Shands Healthcare/ShandsCair, and ensuring safety throughout the transport continuum. As a proficient team member on ground transports, the CCGTP acts as the lead worker on an ALS Critical Care ambulance, responsible for initial patient evaluations and performing advanced life support and/or Critical Care procedures. This role includes supervising and evaluating assigned drivers.

Requirements

Current certification as EMT-Paramedic in the State of Florida required.
BLS certification required upon hire.
ACLS certification required upon hire.
PALS certification required upon hire.
Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License.
Must possess certification of completion of a Florida approved EVOC driving course.
Employees in this position: Will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a 'frequent driver'.

Nice To Haves

ITLS or PHTLS certification preferred or obtained within 1 year of hire.
2 years pre-hospital Paramedic experience preferred.
Demonstrated clinical skills in pre-hospital and critical care transport preferred.
CCEMT-P, UFCCP, or FP-C, and NRP preferred and required within one year of employment.
Instructor statuses in certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

Assessment, triage, treatment, and evaluation of interfacility patients during transport by ground.
Functioning autonomously utilizing medical protocols and advanced skills under the direction of the medical director.
Utilizing clinical process to provide comprehensive care to the patient and documenting that process on the patient record.
Serving as a resource for other team members by sharing skills and clinical knowledge.
Effective communication and ability to work positively in a high stress environment with patients, peers, families and other internal/external personnel.
Providing community outreach and education.
Carrying out the mission and goals of Shands Healthcare/ShandsCair assuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum.
Being a proficient team member on ground transports.
Rendering initial evaluations of patients and performing advanced life support and/or Critical Care procedures on the sick or injured.
Supervising and evaluating assigned drivers.
