About The Position

Paramedic - Pre-Hospital Services - Critical Care Transport - Part Time Flexible Schedule. ChristianaCare is seeking experienced Critical Care Transport Paramedics to join their Pre-Hospital Services team. This role involves working on both the Critical Care Transport Team (Ground) and the ChristianaCare LifeNet (Flight) team. The Transport Paramedic will provide advanced and critical care life support to patients requiring ground or air transport within the ChristianaCare system, to one of their facilities, or to another healthcare system. Experienced Flight Paramedics may have a fast track to serve on the Flight team and can choose between 24-hour Flight shifts and 12-hour Ground shifts.

Requirements

  • Registered EMT-P in the State of Delaware or ability to obtain within 30 Days.
  • National Registry certification required.
  • ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, Health Care Provider CPR required.
  • Three years’ experience in an active pre-hospital service required.

Nice To Haves

  • NALS certification obtained within two years of start with program.
  • Flight Paramedic certification. Certification to be obtained within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced life support care from initial contact until the patient is relinquished to the accepting medical facility, maintains detailed patient care documentation.
  • Collaborates with the transport nurse in providing care for the critically ill and injured patient from contact at referral agencies until care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility, maintains detailed patient care documentation.
  • Practices within the designated scope of practice as defined by the Board of Medical Practice of the State of Delaware, Christiana Care Health Services, and the Office of Emergency Medical Services Paramedic Standing Orders.
  • Maintains proficiency in knowledge and psychomotor skills by participating in ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences.
  • Communicates educational needs to department leadership, maintains skill checklists and continuing education records.
  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices, reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
  • Attends staff meetings and critical skill sessions as assigned.
  • Assists in pre-mission check of vehicle/helicopter and equipment.
  • Serves as a resource for all staff when transporting specialty patients or to referral agencies and as a role model teacher and clinical resource.
  • Acts as a liaison for our program by communicating with all agencies that may require our services.
  • Maintains awareness of current issues and trends in critical care transport.
