About The Position

Help Grow Nebraska by being a part of the Nebraska Department of Economic Development's legal team. Join a team of legal professionals dedicated to serving the public. The Paralegal will be the point of contact for the legal team by conducting basic research, data compilation, and document review and maintenance. Assisting attorneys with discovery and public records requests. Organizing and assisting with the preparation of legislative bill summaries. Preparing legal documents, draft responses, letters, emails, memos summarizing facts of legal matters, and gather information to support the Department's attorneys.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies from an American Bar Association approved program at an accredited college or successful completion of a program at an American Bar Association approved paralegal institute.
  • Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
  • Minimal travel may be required.
  • Incumbent must be able to present a valid driver’s license or another form of reliable transportation.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.

  • Experience with public records laws and document review.

Responsibilities

  • Supports attorneys and managers through timely handling of public records requests, legal documentation preparation and review, research in support of legal team and drafting and review of documents.
  • Investigation and research of information in reports and assist with case or report preparations.
  • Review contracts and agreements that will be approved by attorney.
  • Maintain and manage records for incentive program compliance, grant program support and other monitoring as needed.
  • Conduct legal research, writing of legal documents, review and preparation for attorney usage.
  • Execute liaison duties, communicate with stakeholders and government officials.
  • Utilize legal research tools to summarize depositions and transcripts for hearings or appeals.
  • Coordinating and preparation of reports needed for discovery and hearings.
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.
