About The Position

Kaempfer Crowell is seeking an energetic and dynamic Paralegal to assist lawyers by providing clerical and research support. This role involves investigating facts, preparing discovery documents, issuing subpoenas, preparing legal documents, and researching legal precedent. The Paralegal will be responsible for organizing and maintaining documents, preparing various legal documents such as briefs and pleadings, coordinating depositions, and preparing for trial by organizing exhibits. The position also requires investigating case facts and law, gathering and analyzing information, preparing reports, meeting with clients, filing pleadings, and managing confidential information. The role may involve occasional travel and requires regular and consistent attendance in the office.

Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience as a Paralegal.
  • Proven work experience as a Paralegal with applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices, etc.
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, and court procedures.
  • Perform essential job functions with a high level of accuracy, completeness and legal compliance.
  • Able to work independently as well as in a collaborative, team environment with employees at all levels within the Firm.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Able to correctly interpret, explain and apply policies and procedures.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and precisely.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Fully understand and follow verbal and written directions and instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, high attention to detail and able to effectively work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide effective client service and public relations.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications: Work, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Teams.
  • Experience using legal systems and software platforms.
  • Able to work in office on Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
  • Supportive of law enforcement related representation.

  • Associate Degree in Legal Studies or related field preferred. A combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of this position will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare affidavits or other documents, such as legal correspondence.
  • Organize and maintain documents in both paper and electronic filing systems.
  • Prepare legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admissions, subpoenas, deposition notices, responses to written discovery, and coordinating depositions and meetings.
  • Prepare for trial by performing tasks such as organizing exhibits.
  • Investigate facts and law of cases and search pertinent sources, such as public records and internet sources, to determine causes of action and to prepare cases.
  • Gather and analyze facts, to devise solutions to issues.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Meet with clients and other professionals to discuss details of case.
  • File pleadings with the court clerk.
  • Gather and analyze research data, such as statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, and documents.
  • Direct and coordinate law office activity, including delivery of subpoenas.
  • Call upon witnesses to testify at hearings or depositions.
  • Participate in discussions with individuals or teams. Use electronic mail, conduct telephone conversations and communicate (in-person, by telephone or otherwise) with others.
  • Manage confidential and sensitive information.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance in the office.
  • Occasional travel to other locations, including court.
  • Other duties as assigned.
