About The Position

The Paralegal supports attorneys in the Civil Division by assisting with the preparation, organization, and management of legal cases involving the federal government. This role involves a broad range of litigation support activities, including legal research, document management, case tracking, and trial preparation. The Paralegal works closely with attorneys and federal agencies to ensure efficient handling of civil cases and compliance with court requirements.

Requirements

  • Relevant work experience as a Paralegal or in a legal support role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, strong work ethic, and reliability.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience reviewing and managing large volumes of documents.
  • Prior experience supporting litigation, particularly in civil cases.
  • Familiarity with legal databases and case management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage large volumes of case-related documents, including emails and records.
  • Maintain case files, databases, and tracking systems for court-imposed deadlines and litigation milestones.
  • Assist in ensuring timely compliance with court orders and procedural requirements.
  • Conduct factual and legal research using a variety of sources.
  • Analyze and summarize legal documents such as pleadings, court orders, transcripts, and other materials.
  • Draft memoranda and reports to support attorneys in case strategy and preparation.
  • Prepare legal documents, including pleadings, exhibits, charts, and visual aids for hearings and trials.
  • Assist attorneys with briefs, presentations, and courtroom materials.
  • Provide technical support for litigation, including document formatting, scanning, and exhibit preparation.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets and databases for case tracking and data organization.
  • Gather and compile information from federal agencies, court records, and public records.
  • Work closely with Assistant United States Attorneys and other legal staff.
  • Coordinate with federal agencies to obtain, organize, and manage relevant case information.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support litigation efforts.
