About The Position

Looking for hands-on legal experience while you study? The Florey has a casual Paralegal opportunity (2-3 days per week, casual rate $38.10 per hour plus super) that may suit a student studying a law degree with 2 to 3 years remaining until graduation to undertake a review and re-architecture of all Florey policies. Join the Legal Office at the Florey Institute, a world-renowned medical research organisation, and gain exposure to the legal, governance and policy frameworks that support cutting-edge scientific research. In this role, you'll work closely with Legal Counsel to review and modernise institute policies, conduct legal research, draft legal documents and provide administrative support across a range of legal matters.

Requirements

Currently studying a law degree with 2 to 3 years remaining until graduation.
A mid-level distinction average or higher for law subjects (75%).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
An excellent work ethic.
Any cohort, Masters and JD
Current valid work rights for Australia.

Responsibilities

Provide high level paralegal and administrative support to Florey Legal by maintaining and providing accurate and timely information and data to both internal and external stakeholders relating to relevant legal matters and by coordinating legal documents, reporting, database management and engagement with relevant stakeholders.
Perform a triage role and be a first point of contact for research staff and external customers in the legal and document review process.
Provide high-level business support to individuals, teams or projects including coordination, research and analysis and undertaking the required administrative functions. This may also involve coordinating the activity of others.
Drafting legal documents and correspondence, taking file notes, transcribing and scanning documents; and doing legal research.
