About The Position

The Office of the Missouri Attorney General has an opening for a Paralegal in its Consumer Protection Section in St. Louis, Missouri. The Consumer Protection Section of the Missouri Attorney General's Office strives every day to protect Missourians from fraud, unfair business practices, and all forms of consumer harm. The Section returns millions of dollars a year to Missouri and Missourians through mediation efforts, civil litigation, and criminal prosecutions. The Section works to enforce the State's consumer protection statutes as well as educate the public on ways to avoid scams, fraud, and financial harm.

Requirements

  • Paralegal degree
  • Comfortable in an electronic case management environment
  • Comfortable with e-filing
  • Comfortable with using litigation technology
  • Willingness to learn new case and data management systems
  • Technological proficiency

Nice To Haves

  • Specific experience in electronic case management, e-filing, and litigation technology is not required
  • Experience supporting attorneys at trial is also helpful

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Section's attorneys on civil and criminal consumer cases from inception through trial
  • Assisting with investigations into consumer fraud and white collar crime
  • Maintaining electronic case files
  • Drafting court documents
  • Handling discovery, including e-discovery
  • Supporting attorneys at court hearings and trials
  • Communicating with and working with consumers who were or may have been victims of fraud
  • Assisting with depositions and witness preparation
  • Performing daily administrative tasks as needed by the attorneys
