About The Position

This is a part-time Paralegal position supporting contract negotiations. The role involves assisting a Contract Specialist with various aspects of the negotiation process, including document preparation, research, and administrative support. The position is located in Downtown Seattle and is expected to last 2-3 months on a flexible, as-needed basis.

Requirements

• Clear and precise drafting of legal documents, correspondence, and reports.
• Managing files, documents, and contract negotiation information efficiently.
• Strong verbal and written communication to interact with staff (technical and legal) and negotiating parties.
• Accurate review and preparation of documents, ensuring no errors or omissions.
• Prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with word processing software, document management systems, and basic office applications.
• Ability to analyze facts, identify issues, and assist in contract negotiation strategy.
• Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional standards.
• Ability to find and analyze legal information, precedents, statutes, agency policies, and regulations relevant to contract negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Assist Contract Specialist during negotiations and meetings to prepare for negotiations, including note-taking, coordinating contract drafts (chain of custody management), and managing meeting logistics.
• Draft revisions, reiterations, and other contract and negotiation documents, employing chain of custody management.
• Organize and maintain contract files, correspondences, and negotiation notes; manage deadlines and schedules.
• Handle correspondence, and communication between negotiating team, consultants, proposer, and other parties.
• Conduct research on statutes, FTA Circular, client policy, and other legal research as needed (including, but not limited to, copyright and intellectual property law) to support negotiation strategy.
