About The Position

Due to continued growth, DWF is seeking an experienced and proactive Paralegal to join their highly regarded Health Care team. The team is recognized for its specialist industry expertise and for delivering high-quality, commercially focused advice to a diverse client base, including private sector organizations, local authorities, and the NHS. The successful candidate will work within a team handling a broad and varied caseload, including healthcare regulatory matters (defending healthcare professionals before regulators), disciplinary work, inquest law, medico-legal advisory work, criminal matters, and some clinical negligence cases. This is an exciting opportunity to work on behalf of leading insurers, managing high-quality, mid- to high-value work within a supportive and ambitious team. The role can be based in any of DWF's UK offices, including Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Southampton, Bristol, or London, and is hybrid, requiring access to one of these offices. Requirements

  • Previous and tangible experience handling a caseload in your own right, or assisting senior team members, preferably including defendant regulatory healthcare cases.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Confidence in dealing with medical records and legal documents.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems (e.g., Visualfiles).
  • Team player with a proactive and flexible approach.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior team members on a varied caseload of healthcare regulatory matters, disciplinary cases and inquests.
  • Assist with the management of non-claims matters under supervision.
  • Prepare chronologies, draft correspondence, and review medical records.
  • Liaise with clients, courts, counsel, and experts.
  • Conduct legal research and maintain case management systems.
  • Prepare bundles for hearings and conferences.
  • Attend client meetings and case conferences as required.
  • Monitor and diarise court dates, deadlines, and key tasks.
  • Complete MI and prepare for client audits.
