Requirements

  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Assist and provide a range of legal administrative support to the real estate attorney(s) in the Legal Department, and, on a “as-needed” basis, to other attorneys and staff in the Legal Department, with primary responsibility for Catholic Health (CH) commercial real estate matters, including leases, licenses and sessional (part-time license) agreements, acquisitions, and yearly property tax exemption filings with the various Long Island counties, towns, and villages.
  • Prepare for attorney review correspondence, leases, subleases, license agreements, session agreements, deeds, legal descriptions of property, basic construction agreements and other real property-related documents.
  • Order and review external Fair Market Value appraisals, rental study reports and internal financial analysis to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance. Order title, inspections and appraisals.
  • Review of title searches, surveys, and other transaction documents.
  • Coordination and preparing documents for closings; attending closings with attorney.
  • Generate data reports on leases and CH-owned properties as requested by the attorney and CH Facilities unit using the Colliers database system.
  • Transmit all leases, subleases and licenses to Colliers following execution of agreements so that payment and collection of same is properly tracked.
  • Prepare for attorney review and file annual real property tax exemption forms for CH-owned real estate.
  • Compile for attorney review and file IDA Reporting information annually in connection with CH leases with IDA benefits.
  • Maintain, track, organize, and file official legal documents in CH database, including all leases, licenses and session agreements, construction agreements, FMV Reports, correspondence, research and other documents.
  • Liaise with the medical group and facilities unit to obtain data necessary to prepare license and session agreements.
  • Prepare for attorney review Power-Point slides that summarize key lease and license terms in connection with corporate governance approval process.
