About The Position

The Paralegal III serves as a paraprofessional providing advanced legal support to attorneys. This position prepares and files pleadings, sets court dates, prepares, processes, and files additional pleadings. This position also provides office administration for the County Attorney's office. Work requires sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and the ability to interpret and apply applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree
  • 2 years of increasingly responsible office administration experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and research methods.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple complex assignments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research platforms and case management systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to prioritize time and workflow.
  • Must be proficient with standard office equipment.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook.
  • Candidate must pass criminal background check prior to employment start date.
  • Candidate must have a valid Driver’s License and Liability Insurance Upon Hire Required
  • Candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) evaluation and if hired, will be subject to continuous monthly MVR monitoring and random drug screens throughout employment.
  • Pre-employment substance screening is required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • File pleadings with the Court for Short Term Certifications, Drug and Alcohol Involuntary Commitment and Imposing Legal Disability (ILD) cases.
  • Coordinate hearings.
  • Prepare, file, and communicate with treatment facilities regarding hearings.
  • Document and track mental health reviews.
  • Process continuances.
  • Prepare and file zoning violation pleadings.
  • Set court hearings.
  • Appear on docket days.
  • Prepare, process, and file additional pleadings.
  • Document and track zoning violation cases.
  • Process credit card payments for fees.
  • Draft complex legal documents, including pleadings, motions, agreements, and memoranda.
  • Prepare attorneys for hearings, trials, depositions, and meetings by organizing materials and developing summaries.
  • Assist in creating and reviewing and coordinating responses, and maintaining documentation.
  • Manage complex cases from initiation through closure, ensuring deadlines and procedural requirements are met.
  • Organize and maintain case files, schedules, timelines, and correspondence.
  • Coordinate communication between internal departments, clients, external agencies, and opposing counsel.
  • Review and analyze case-related materials such as records and evidence.
  • Prepare and file Disclaimers for the Public Trustee and Treasurer's Office.
  • Pay Bills in Workday.
  • Track and order supplies.
  • Update publications in Law Library/Conference rooms.
  • Email bankruptcy cases to appropriate parties.
  • Copy/scan documents.
  • Utilize the Court's E-Filing systems for filing pleadings.
