When our employees bring their best and succeed, the Company succeeds. About the Role The Paralegal III provides litigation or transactional support under minimal supervision. The paralegal researches and analyzes law, investigates facts, conducts and coordinates document collections, and prepares and maintains legal documents for review, approval, and use. In carrying out these job duties, the Paralegal will communicate with various intra-company departments and external contacts (including outside counsel), prepare business correspondence and reports, and assist with the organization and maintenance of Company documents and department files. The Paralegal will be supervised by attorneys on legal matters, and will be required to utilize independent judgment and make recommendations to legal staff on a variety of matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Requires a minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of paralegal experience
  • Paralegal certification from ABA accredited paralegal program.
  • Applicable work experience in lieu of Paralegal certification will be considered.
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry preferred.
  • Working knowledge of New Jersey litigation practice preferred.
  • Requires working knowledge of the New Jersey Rules of Civil Procedure and Court Rules
  • Must be proficient in the use of personal computers and supporting software in a Windows based environment, including MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Should be knowledgeable in the use of legal research software.

Responsibilities

  • Research, monitor, update, and maintain current knowledge of developments in federal and state legislation, rules, regulations, enforcement actions and industry guidelines affecting the health insurance industry.
  • Organize, maintain and update departmental files.
  • Prepare legal documents for review, approval, and use by attorneys, as requested.
  • Analyze data and write reports as requested.
  • Provide administrative assistance as needed ranging from taking messages to drafting letters, scheduling meetings, typing, and projects as requested
  • Perform factual investigation and research.
  • Assist in obtaining, organizing, analyzing and providing documents and information related to the litigation, investigation or subpoena.
  • Negotiate resolution of matters pursuant to authorized authority.
