About The Position

This position provides legal support for DaVita’s Hospital Services Group and Patient Pathways program, with primary responsibility for supporting acute dialysis services and discharge planning services agreements and amendments. The role manages key aspects of the contract lifecycle, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, finalizing, and coordinating execution and closeout of agreements. In addition to core contracting responsibilities, this position assists with special projects, client program requests, operational inquiries, and administrative or dispute-related contract support as needed. The HSG Paralegal II operates in a highly demanding, deadline-driven environment where active contracts are critical to hospital operations, patient treatment, and billing continuity. The position regularly supports urgent extension requests, time-sensitive hospital demands, and a high volume of complex business-to-business contract terms, including fee schedules, service-level expectations, liability provisions, and related operational requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Four years of experience as a Paralegal.
  • Previous experience drafting and negotiating contracts required.
  • Proficiency in MS 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate in Paralegal Studies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as paralegal for DaVita’s Hospital Services Group and Patient Pathways, including drafting, reviewing, redlining, negotiating, and finalizing complex agreements and amendments with external parties.
  • Review intake forms submitted by Regional Operations Directors (RODs) and prepare initial agreements and amendments.
  • Act as a primary touchpoint for hospital redlines, reviewing proposed changes, coordinating multiple rounds of edits, and distinguishing between items requiring operational approval and items requiring legal approval.
  • Create and maintain accurate contract records in contract management system throughout the negotiation, execution, and closeout process.
  • Upon request, review current agreements and respond to inquiries from legal, compliance, operations, accounts receivable, clinical teammates, or other internal stakeholders.
  • Draft and process letters and other related correspondence.
  • Maintain systems to track agreements in all stages of negotiation and execution and send all executed agreements to the appropriate central filing system.
  • Communicate daily with legal and operations teammates, compliance, accounts receivable, clinical teammates, and other stakeholders regarding ongoing contracting matters, urgent extensions, program issues, and contract-related escalations.
  • Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed; and Know, understand, and follow teammate guidelines, employment policies, and department or company procedures.
  • Consistent, regular, punctual attendance as scheduled is an essential responsibility of this position.
