About The Position

Ice Miller, LLP is seeking an experienced HUD loan and real estate transaction paralegal to join our team. The paralegal must have subject matter experience as further explained below, and must be capable of working in a fast-paced, multi-location environment with time-sensitive materials, and maintain strict confidentiality due to the nature of the position. It is anticipated that HUD loan work will be the majority of what this paralegal works on, with traditional real estate transaction management duties comprising the remaining workload. Salary in the range of $70,000 - $100,000 dependent on location and experience level

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; paralegal certificate a plus
  • Understanding of HUD loans and the process involved as well as experience are required
  • Understanding of real estate terminology
  • Understanding of and experience with real estate transaction management
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail required
  • Demonstrated commitment delivering quality legal services
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Exhibits resourcefulness and flexibility
  • Demonstrates analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Must be able to perform all essential job duties

Responsibilities

  • Draft borrower and operator side deliverables for HUD 232 loans, including organizational documents, lease memoranda, addenda and estoppels, and management agreement addenda
  • Communicate directly with client and lender’s counsel to coordinate delivery of all information required for HUD 232 application submissions
  • Coordinate closing process for HUD 232 loans with client, title company, and lender
  • Review real estate due diligence for finance, acquisition, and disposition transactions
  • Critically review title reports and policies, including underlying documentation support, for property ownership, encumbrances, and other pertinent “checklist” items; discuss, negotiate, and manage title curative items with title agents; draft, deliver, and negotiate title objection letters under supervision of supervising attorney
  • Draft corporate organizational documentation including LLC and LP agreements and file with appropriate jurisdiction
  • Draft lease abstracts
  • Work closely with attorneys, title companies, lenders, and real estate agents to facilitate real estate closings by anticipated closing dates
  • Draft, track, and manage timetables for multiple real estate transactions simultaneously
