About The Position

Performs moderately difficult paralegal work in support of attorneys or judges involving legal research, drafting and checking documents and forms; assists in carrying out the more complex tasks under closer supervision or for the purpose of learning; and performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible paralegal work experience
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and forms
  • Knowledge of legal research methods and sources of legal information
  • Knowledge of types of court actions, court rules and procedures
  • Knowledge of legal writing
  • Knowledge of interviewing techniques
  • Ability to read and understand laws, statutes, rules and legal documents
  • Ability to understand legal processes and procedures
  • Ability to prepare, process and maintain legal records, forms, documents, reports and correspondence
  • Ability to perform legal research, compile, summarize and digest materials
  • Ability to draft documents
  • Ability to prepare reports
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from an accredited Legal Secretary curriculum may be substituted for one (1) year of General Experience
  • Graduation from an accredited Paralegal/Legal Assistant training program with at least 60 semester credits may be substituted for the four (4) years of General Experience requirement
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Law may be substituted for all of the required General Experience
