About The Position

The Paraeducator supports students in an after-school enrichment program at Gault Elementary. Under the direction and supervision of the ELOP/ASES Program Supervisor and the After School Program Coordinator, the position helps supervise students, reinforces instruction through tutoring and homework support, and supports students’ academic, social, and emotional growth and well-being. The schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 2:30–6:00 PM, and Wednesday from 12:30–6:00 PM, for 19.5 hours per week.

Requirements

• Meet ESSA (or NCLB) compliance through at least two years of study at an institution of higher education, an associate degree or higher, or passing the Paraprofessional test provided by Santa Cruz City Schools.
• Submit a Letter of Introduction.
• Submit NCLB compliance documentation: a transcript, a copy of an associate degree or higher, or a proficiency exam result letter.
• Submit a resume.

Responsibilities

• Assist with supervision of students at an assigned school site during after-school enrichment programs.
• Tutor individual students or small groups, reinforce instruction, and support students in completing homework.
• Observe and manage student behavior during educational and recreational activities.
• Co-create and collaborate to support an after-school environment that promotes students’ academic, social, and emotional growth and well-being.
• Assist with preparing instructional materials and implementing lesson plans.
• Perform routine clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel.
