About The Position

The Paraeducator-Independence Facilitator provides individual behavior intervention and medical support to students in classroom settings and assists individuals or small groups of students to enhance learning. The role assists teachers with instruction and classroom management in special education and general education classrooms, as well as in lunchroom and play field environments. This is a full-time position at Westside Elementary, working 7 hours per day, 5 days per week, for 182 work days per year. The salary is $21.24–$28.08 per hour across 9 annual steps; placement is based on relevant experience. Medical, dental, vision, and employee life insurance are available to employees working 4 or more hours per day. Employees working 6 or more hours per day receive a full district contribution; those working 4–5.99 hours per day receive a 50% contribution.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of a competency assessment demonstrating knowledge and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; at least 48 college credit units may substitute for the assessment.
Compliance with District skill and competency requirements.
May require a valid driver's license.
May require a valid First Aid/CPR card.
Required application documents: proof of high school graduation or equivalent; NCLB compliance evidence through 48 semester college units or passing the Paraeducator Proficiency Exam; a resume; and a CPR/First Aid certificate.
