About The Position

Provides individual behavior intervention and medical support to students in classroom settings and assists individuals or small groups of students to enhance learning. Assists teachers with instruction and classroom management in special education and general education classrooms, as well as lunchroom and play field environments. The position is located at Las Palmas Elementary and works 7 hours per day, 5 days per week, for 182 work days per year. Salary is $21.24–$28.08 per hour in 9 annual steps; placement is based on relevant experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successfully complete a competency assessment demonstrating knowledge and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics, or have completed at least 48 college credit units as a substitute for the assessment.
• Meet District skill and competency requirements.
• May require a valid driver’s license.
• May require a valid First Aid/CPR card.
• Submit proof of high school graduation, a resume providing clear evidence of required experience, and either proof of 48 semester college units or a passing Paraeducator Proficiency Exam; CPR/First Aid certificate is also listed among required documents.
