About The Position

This co-op position at Irving Tissue, a leading manufacturer of premium quality tissue products, offers students the opportunity to lead meaningful projects in design, process improvement, and optimization. The role involves participating in team problem-solving, conducting statistical studies, and working with Operations and Engineering Departments to implement and improve systems. The co-op will contribute to site initiatives in Safety, Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Continuous Improvement, while also planning and performing continuous assessment of product quality and following site safe practices. J.D. Irving, Limited, the parent company, is a responsible steward of the forests and has achieved carbon neutrality for its forest supply chain.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in Engineering Degree: Chemical, and/or Pulp & Paper Science
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • The following engineering courses are applicable: Fluid Mechanics, Process Control, Heat and Mass Transfer, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Organic/Inorganic Chemistry, and Statistics

Responsibilities

  • Lead meaningful projects in design, process improvement, and optimization
  • Participate in team problem‑solving by gathering, investigating, and analyzing data
  • Conduct statistical studies for operation review
  • Work with Operations and Engineering Departments to implement and improve systems, processes, and quality
  • Contribute to site initiatives in Safety, Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Continuous Improvement
  • Plan, implement and perform continuous assessment of product quality
  • Follow site safe practices at all times
