About The Position

Alberta Newsprint Company (ANC) is seeking a full-time Paper Machine Operator (Contract) for its Operations Department. This role is directly involved in the manufacturing and production of paper, utilizing both machinery and physical labor. It is ideal for a candidate willing to start at an entry level and learn the paper production trade. The operator will work in extreme temperatures (high and low) and at heights. ANC provides an extensive training program for employee growth and career development. The company is looking for safety-focused, self-driven individuals with strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 diploma (or equivalent) is required.
  • A valid Driver's License with your own transportation is required.
  • The mill is located outside of Whitecourt so you must be able to commute.
  • Mechanical aptitude is a must.
  • Previous industrial manufacturing is a definite asset.
  • Basic computer skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Live within 75 km of the mill site in Whitecourt, AB.
  • Must have a safety-focused mindset and a strong knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Have a sense of responsibility, accountability, and ownership of your work.
  • Be a self-starter motivated to complete tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate effective communication with a variety of personalities and roles.
  • Eligible to work in Canada either by citizenship, permanent residency, or valid Canadian work permit.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous industrial manufacturing is a definite asset.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning up and tidying around the paper machine.
  • Taking samples of newsprint.
  • Pushing rolls of newsprint and applying core tags.
  • Assisting senior paper operations staff when and as required.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
