About The Position

Seeking a Part Time Pantry Coordinator to join our Schenectady Team. This role involves overseeing the Corps’ Pantry program, which provides fresh and canned food to individuals and families in need on an emergency basis. The coordinator will interview clients, identify their needs, suggest referrals, inquire about spiritual needs, and invite individuals/families to worship and applicable corps-based meetings. A respectful and compassionate approach is expected in all interactions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One to three years previous kitchen or food preparation experience preferred.
  • Safe Serv certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan Pantry intake and ministry.
  • Follow all rules of the Health Dept. pertaining to safe handling and preparation of daily meals, and be conscious of food expiration dates.
  • Ensure the Pantry is properly stocked with a sufficient amount of regular staple food items.
  • Properly and safely store and rotate food.
  • Maintain pantry cleanliness, including floors, freezers, refrigerators, and all equipment.
  • Ensure all food storage spaces are organized.
  • Prepare orders for the Food Bank based on budget availability.
  • Connect with donors and stores to solicit donations in cash, grants, and GIK.
  • Cooperate and collaborate with the Soup Kitchen staff on food orders to the Regional Food Bank.
  • Assist in maintaining statistics and tracking client services for distribution to various organizations.
  • Assist in tracking in-kind donations.
  • Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly records and statistics for all reports.
  • Report equipment problems to the immediate supervisor.
  • Facilitate preparation for any volunteer groups.
  • Ensure the Pantry program is well maintained and in compliance with The Salvation Army and regulatory agency standards.
  • Assist in monitoring timely submission, accuracy, and appropriateness of responses for all required reports for the Pantry program, regulatory agency inspections, and follow-up on implementation of corrective actions.
  • Clean up any and all spills, wipe and sanitize all surfaces daily.
  • Monitor sidewalk conditions to ensure safe entry ways in inclement weather conditions.
  • Assist in other duties at the request of the Corps Office.
