Carolinas Palliative Care & Hospice Group is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to provide inpatient palliative care as part of a specialized interdisciplinary team at Stanly. The role supports patients and families affected by serious illness through symptom management, goals-of-care discussions, coordinated care planning, consultation, and ongoing support. The Nurse Practitioner works with physicians, APPs, nurses, social workers, and hospital-based chaplains, with physician backup available. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with participation in a call rotation approximately every 10 to 12 weeks (about three to four times per year). The position has no routine procedure coverage requirement. Expected volume is approximately 1,000 visits and 3,000 RVUs annually. The broader clinician group includes 13 physicians and 19 APPs. The position requires Nurse Practitioner education and certification, North Carolina licensure or the ability to obtain it before starting, a Master’s degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice, an RN license, and certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body. At least one year of experience is preferred; palliative care or ICU fellowship experience may be considered. The posting also describes general Nurse Practitioner duties including taking medical histories, conducting examinations and assessments, documenting findings and care plans, prescribing and administering medications, ordering and interpreting laboratory and radiology examinations, determining treatment plans, advocating for patients, and participating in practice meetings and policy development when requested. Although the position-specific description states that procedures are not required, the general role description mentions minor office-based medical or surgical procedures.
