About The Position

The Palletizer Operator is responsible for producing pallets of product that are properly stacked, stretch-wrapped, and ready for warehouse storage. This role ensures the palletizing machinery operates efficiently, troubleshoots malfunctions, and maintains product quality according to company standards.

Requirements

  • Experience running large machines.
  • Fast-paced production experience preferred.
  • Background in manufacturing.
  • Experienced within a manufacturing/process environment with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk and lift up to 55lbs.
  • Lifting of up to 55lbs will likely take place 15% of the time.
  • Steel toed shoes, Ear Plugs, Hair Net.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure palletizing machines are running at all times.
  • Troubleshoot all palletizer machine malfunctions and abnormalities in a timely manner to maintain overall line efficiency, including troubleshooting the machine, shuttle cars, wrappers, and photo eyes.
  • Inform maintenance of any necessary equipment repairs.
  • Select appropriate palletizing patterns.
  • Verify code dates at each changeover.
  • Notify forklift drivers of changeovers.
  • Ensure pallets are of acceptable quality and comply with QA standard guidelines.
  • Check pallet patterns for each product.
  • Verify that the palletizer is set up for the correct bag size and pattern.
  • Optimize stack patterns to uphold the best quality for the customer by minimizing overhang, eliminating product gaps, and presenting a tightly stacked symmetrical pallet.
  • Coordinate material handling.
  • Maintain open communication with forklift drivers to ensure lines do not run out of materials.
  • Communicate with Parsons/Thiele operators to plan ahead for upcoming changeovers.
  • Change materials out as needed when changing products.
  • Ensure the correct materials (pallets, slip sheets, film) are being utilized per product.
  • Assist the manifestor in the LP process and cover the manifest station during breaks.
  • Verify the accuracy of LPs applied to pallets, ensuring G-Code and quantity are correct.
  • Participate as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and supporting team concepts, programs, and policies.
  • Attend appropriate team meetings.
  • Accept responsibility to quickly identify areas lacking cohesiveness and work with the team leader to resolve issues.
  • Be familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity and support these systems.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
