About The Position

GrayWolf is seeking Painters at its Morgan City Mod Yard. GrayWolf is a heavy industrial and commercial construction contractor providing end-to-end solutions in design, fabrication, construction, and facility management, with a nationwide footprint. A Painter provides the labor, skill, and knowledge needed to prepare surfaces and apply coatings according to job specifications. The role includes maintaining and operating applicable equipment, evaluating surface preparation for accuracy and compliance with SSPC Codes, and applying coatings to meet specified wet- and dry-mil requirements. Work may involve grinders, chippers, sanders, and overhead cranes, as well as reading work orders and piece mark numbers and following supervisor instructions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or 12 months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of SSPC Codes.
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 45 pounds.
• Ability to move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
• Ability to work shifts of up to 12 hours in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
• Ability to climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
• PPE footwear and prescription safety glasses or eye shields are required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain all applicable equipment.
• Evaluate surface preparation for accuracy and compliance with SSPC Codes.
• Apply coatings at the wet-mil thickness necessary to achieve the dry-mil thickness required by job specifications.
• Use knowledge of different types of coatings and application methods.
• Use grinders, chippers, sanders, and overhead cranes as needed.
• Read and lay out work orders or receive cleaning instructions from a supervisor.
• Read piece mark numbers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
